News
VC Walcot certainly put it about a bit over the weekend and our Sportive riders (and runner) were out there doin’ our bit.
The LionHeart Sportive from Longleat was well supported by David Acklam and Paul Hennessey in the 100km event with husband & wife Alf and Vicky Hill who opted to ride the 100 mile version.
Sunshine with heavy hail showers greeted riders who also had the brutal climb of Alfreds Tower to contend with highlighted by cheering and clapping by supporters at the summit. There was even cheese and wine laid on at the half-way point. Alf & Vicky, fresh from riding the Dunkery Dash Audax classic just 2 weeks ago even managed a friendly sprint for the line at the end of the stunning 1km finishing straight leading to Longleat house. And it’s not even British Summer Time yet!
Easyrider ride leader Mat Croft swapped 2 wheels for running shoes to complete the Sport Relief mile at the Odd Down circuit on the same day. Quite a bit shorter than his recent Bath Half marathon.
I think Easyriders are going to have to form a Hardriders sub-group at some stage. 2014 is starting to look like one heck of a year for the club, again.
Next weekend
3 VC Walcot members down to ride 2 of the 3 LVIS Audax events from Bristol. Start list http://www.audax.lvis.org.uk/ This event not only has a reputation for being a tough ride but also the excellence of its catering and rumour even has it that riders finish heavier than they start!

Upcoming Events

Lots coming up in the next few weeks including some really exciting stuff.
Further out
Some of the Easyriders are planning to ride the Mendip 100 mile sportive on May 18th. More to follow on that.

The http://www.bikebath.co.uk/ weekend of 28/29th June is sure to be of interest and marshalls are being offered free entry to the Bike Oxford events. More to follow on that too.

Bath CC are running their 100km Mendip Audax http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/14-225/ on Sunday 6th July from Combe Down in Bath. This is the second year of the event and I heard great reviews from last year and included live TV coverage of the TdF at the finish. It would be really good to enter in big numbers for both these local events. How good would that look.
