The Summer 2014 Season of Circuit Racing Got Underway at Odd Down Circuit Yesterday.

After a long wait for local riders which included missing the whole month of May summer racing is back at the circuit. A large entry across all categories meant a busy evening for the club which then increased tenfold due to an incident in the Men’s 3/4s race.
Unfortunately rider who was battling towards the front of the main bunch rolled a tub and subsequently went for a high flying trip over his bars before landing on his head and right should. The results was a broken collarbone and a trip to the RUH in an ambulance. The 3/4s race was abandoned but after a lengthy delay to wait for the ambulance to clear the circuit we pressed ahead with the Men’s E123.
The shortened race meant riders were keen to make their mark from the start trying to establish a break with Ride 24/7 and Dream Cycling very prominent throughout. Despite the many attempts it wasn’t until approximately 15 mins to race that the final selection was made and a group of six got the gap they needed whilst the main field sat up and waited for the minor placings.
In the end it was a win for Dream Cycling’s James Phillips ahead of riders from Ride 24/7, Bristol RC, NFTO and Avonlea Treasure RT.
Thanks goes out to the BC Commissaires, VC Walcot marshals, organiser Jon Arnold (+ wife Helen!) as always.
We’ll see you next week. The remaining spaces are being snapped up quickly:
The already full Men’s 2/3 race looks like it will be cracker!
