Details of the soft opening event to signify the completion of the new 1.5 km circuit at Chelwood Drive, Odd Down are coming together. We have received the following résumé from BaNES.
11:00am sees the official ribbon cutting ceremony, with a group including Don Foster MP, representatives of the Council and local cycling clubs, along with the school competition winner for naming the new Sulis Scorpions Youth Cycling Alliance completing a lap.
The circuit will then be available, at no charge, until 1:00pm for mixed ability public use. As club members, you all are invited to ride on the circuit and see the new facility. The circuit will host many of the clubs upcoming activities; do bring your families, children, friends etc. along so that they can enjoy the circuit in a relaxed atmosphere.
There will be a marquee on site and tea / coffee concessions available.
If you ride up to the circuit then great, but if bringing the car please arrive in plenty of time for the opening ceremony as you are asked not to park in Chelwood Drive. Use the car park at the circuit or park as directed. Remember to drive safe and mind those with bikes!
CYCLE MARSHALS: Can you help out? The clubs are asked to help provide cycle marshals on the circuit. Many hands make light work as they say, so if you can help out, even if it’s for part of the time, that would be great.
Cycle marshals briefing is in the marquee at 10:00am.
All you need to do is ride the circuit to keep an eye on things to ensure safe riding. First aid is being provided by First Aid Training Bath and there will be council officers attending as the day is being run by the local authority.
If you can help, please pop us an email reply to firstname.lastname@example.org
